Copyright, Content & Downstream Rights
Effective date: July 14, 2026 · © 2026 LARP. All rights reserved.
1Scope
This Copyright, Content & Downstream Rights Policy (the "Policy") governs all Contributions submitted to, generated on, or published through the LARP service, mobile apps, PWAs, APIs, and any successor platforms (collectively, the "Service").
The Policy is incorporated by reference into the LARP Terms of Service. By accessing the Service, creating an account, importing content, or clicking any control that submits a prompt, message, image, audio, video, or other material, you agree to this Policy.
2Definitions
- "Contribution" means any story, character, world, setting, plotline, outline, chapter, choice, "Next Step," dialogue, prompt, revision, image, audio, video, name, tag, description, cover, edit, comment, review, translation, remix, or other material you submit, generate, or cause the Service to generate.
- "Derivative Work" means any work based on, derived from, incorporating, adapting, translating, extending, sequelizing, dramatizing, or fictionalizing a Contribution or any part of it, in any medium.
- "Media" means all formats and channels of distribution now known or later developed, including without limitation: theatrical film, streaming and episodic television, mobile video, short-form vertical video, audio dramas and podcasts, interactive audio, video games, tabletop games, VR/AR/XR experiences, immersive live experiences, publishing (print, e-book, audiobook, graphic novel), merchandise, toys, and any AI-driven or agentic interactive formats.
- "LARP" means the operator of the Service and its affiliates, successors, and assigns.
3Assignment of Rights to LARP
To the maximum extent permitted by law, you hereby irrevocably assign, transfer, and convey to LARP all right, title, and interest — including all copyright and related and neighboring rights, database rights, and other intellectual property rights — in and to each Contribution and each Derivative Work, throughout the universe, in all Media, in perpetuity.
The assignment includes the sole and exclusive right to: (a) reproduce, publish, distribute, and publicly perform or display the Contribution; (b) create Derivative Works; (c) adapt the Contribution into film, television, mobile video, streaming series, video games, audio, print, merchandise, and live experiences; (d) license, sublicense, sell, assign, or otherwise transfer any or all of the foregoing rights to third parties, on any terms LARP determines; and (e) exercise all rights of publication, distribution, promotion, and merchandising associated with the foregoing.
If any right cannot be assigned by law, you grant LARP an exclusive, perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free, fully paid-up, transferable, and sublicensable license to exercise that right for any purpose.
4Downstream Adaptations
You acknowledge and agree that LARP may exploit Contributions in any Media, including by producing or licensing motion pictures, episodic series, mobile and short-form video, animated content, video games, tabletop games, VR/AR/XR experiences, live and immersive performances, audio dramas, print and digital publishing, merchandise, and formats that do not yet exist and may be invented after the date you submitted the Contribution.
LARP is not obligated to exploit any Contribution and may choose not to publish, adapt, or continue to distribute a Contribution at any time and for any reason.
5Waiver of Moral Rights (Where Permitted)
To the extent permitted by applicable law, you waive, and agree not to assert against LARP or its licensees, any moral rights, rights of paternity or integrity, and any similar rights in any jurisdiction in connection with the Contributions and Derivative Works. Where waiver is not permitted, you agree not to enforce such rights in a way that interferes with the exercise of the rights granted under this Policy.
6Attribution & Credit
Where reasonably practicable, LARP will credit the account handle under which a Contribution was originally published (for example, "Originally created on LARP by @handle"). Credit format, placement, size, and inclusion are determined by LARP or its licensees in their sole discretion, and failure to provide credit is not a material breach of this Policy.
7Compensation
Unless a separate written agreement signed by an authorized officer of LARP says otherwise, Contributions are provided without expectation of royalty, revenue share, or additional compensation beyond any Creator Program payouts, subscription revenue, or tokens (Embers) that LARP elects to make available from time to time under program terms LARP may modify or discontinue.
LARP may, in its discretion, offer separate creator agreements, option agreements, or adaptation deals for individual works. Any such agreement must be in writing and signed to be binding.
8Your Warranties
By submitting a Contribution, you represent and warrant that:
- You are at least the age of majority in your jurisdiction, or the age of digital consent with verified parental consent;
- You own or control all rights necessary to grant the assignment and licenses in this Policy;
- The Contribution does not infringe any third-party copyright, trademark, right of publicity, privacy right, contract, or other right;
- The Contribution does not depict real, identifiable minors in a sexual, exploitative, or violent context, and does not violate LARP's Content Policy;
- You have not previously assigned or granted an exclusive license to the Contribution that would conflict with this Policy.
9AI-Assisted & AI-Generated Content
Contributions on LARP are typically produced through interactions with AI models and image generators. You acknowledge that (a) the copyright status of purely machine-generated output varies by jurisdiction, and (b) to the extent any part of a Contribution is protectable, this Policy assigns those rights to LARP. To the extent any part is not protectable by copyright, you agree not to assert any competing or adverse claim of ownership against LARP or its licensees.
10LARP Platform IP
The LARP name, wordmark, logo, "Cybernetic Luminal" visual system, starter stories authored or curated by LARP (including but not limited to Pacific Prep, 1981, The Odyssey, Death on the Karnak, The Prague Protocol, The No-Clip, and More Than Anyone), UI, software, and underlying models and prompts are and remain the exclusive property of LARP and its licensors. Nothing in this Policy grants you any right to use LARP's trademarks, trade dress, or platform software outside the Service.
11Third-Party Materials & DMCA
Do not submit Contributions that infringe others' rights. LARP responds to notices of claimed infringement under the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) and equivalent laws in other jurisdictions. Send takedown notices to admin@marengoknoll.com. Include the information required by 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3). Repeat infringers will be terminated.
12Removal, Termination & Survival
You may delete a Contribution from the Service at any time. Deletion removes public display but does not revoke the assignment or licenses granted in Sections 3–5, and those rights survive termination of your account. LARP may retain backups and internal copies for legal, safety, and operational purposes.
13Changes to This Policy
LARP may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced in the app or by email. Continued use of the Service after the effective date of a change constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy for Contributions made after that date.
14Governing Law & Contact
This Policy is governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Questions or licensing inquiries: admin@marengoknoll.com.
